♣-John Denver 는....
1943년 미국 뉴멕시코주에서 태어났다.
1963년 텍사스테크대학교를 중퇴하고,
로스앤젤레스로 이주했다.
이 시기에 본명 대신 자신이 좋아했던 콜로라도주의 주도
덴버(Denver)를 활용해 '존 덴버'로 이름을 바꿨다.
존 덴버는 1970년대 컨트리 팝과 포크 음악의 대중화에 기여했고,
환경운동에도 앞장섰다는 평가를 받는다.
대표곡으로 <테이크 미 홈, 컨트리 로즈>,
<선샤인 온 마이 숄더스>, <애니스 송>,
<생크 갓 아임 어 컨트리 보이> 등이 있다.
1997년 10월 12일 직접 조종하던 경비행기 추락사고로
캘리포니아주 몬터레이만 부근에서 사망했다.
1977년 콜로라도 주지사로부터 ‘콜로라도 계관시인
(Poet Laureate Of Colorado)’ 칭호를 수여받았고,
1996년 송라이터스 명예의 전당(Songwriters Hall Of Fame)에 헌액됐다.
